“I Never Knew You”: The Lord’s Solemn Warning On Empty Lip-Service

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’

23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Matthew 7:21-23

“Many will say to me in that day…” Jesus tells us that there will be many who will say to Him that they knew Him and served Him, and did many great works for Him, and yet He will tell them that He never knew them. What does this verse tell us about what it actually means to follow the Lord, and how can we be sure that we are truly known by the Master? In this devotional, the Intentional Faith Devotional Team takes a look at Matthew 7:21-23.
